Uyehara will manage business center
A former associate of a Big Four accounting firm has been named manager of Hawaii's state government Business Action Center.
Jayna Uyehara will manage information for people who want to start, expand or locate a business here, according to the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
Uyehara also will help entrepreneurs complete the necessary forms to register businesses and trademarks as well as obtain general excise tax licenses and employer registrations.
She brings more than 10 years of experience in tax policy, tax consulting and tax planning to the office, which helped more than 20,000 people last year. She comes to the post from the Hawaii Department of Taxation, where she had been a rules officer and legislative coordinator since 2001.
Prior to that, Uyehara was a senior tax associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
